What is Christianity?

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By Jeff Reid Christianity is God’s religion. It was founded originally by the Lord Jesus Christ and spread with His Blessing by the Apostle Paul. Paul was originally an enemy of Jesus and a murderer of Christians, but after Jesus appeared to him on the road to Damascus, he became an enthusiastic follower of the Risen Lord. Christianity is a historic religion. It is founded upon the historical life, teachings, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Christianity is the only religion that can make such claims to history, and eyewitnesses wrote down the Lord’s actions and words in four inspired books that we call “gospels” - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The basic story of Christianity is simple. It all starts in the Garden of Eden - a perfect Garden featuring a Forbidden Tree. God created man perfectly in His Image out of the dust of the earth. His Spirit breathed life into this form, and mankind became a living being. God realized that Adam was lonely, so he put him to sleep and created a woman named Eve out of Adam’s rib. Everything was great for a while, but then Satan visited the Garden, and all hell broke loose. Satan slyly convinced Eve that she should eat the forbidden fruit from the Forbidden Tree. Eve unfortunately listened to Satan and partook of the forbidden fruit. Adam discovered Eve and the serpent, and he too unwisely partook of the forbidden fruit in a deliberate act of rebellion against God. As a result of eating the fruit, their eyes were opened, and they realized that they were naked. They were ashamed and tried to hide from God. God appeared on the scene in the Garden and experienced confusion at not being able to find Adam and Eve. “Where the heck could they be?”, He thought to Himself. He called out, “Adam!”. There was no answer. He cried out, “Eve!”. There was no answer. After several attempts at calling them and after a frantic search of the Garden turned up nothing, Adam decided to have mercy on God. Adam cried out and said, “Father, we are over here under these trees in the south end of the Garden with this talking serpent! Follow my voice, and You will find us!” God successfully located Adam, Eve, and the talking serpent and heaved an enormous sigh of relief. He killed some animals and clothed Adam and Eve and then pronounced punishment upon Satan. He condemned the talking snake to eat dust for the rest of his life, and he predicted the coming of a Savior who would punish him to an even greater extent, finally defeating him in the process. About four thousand years after the events in the Garden of Eden took place, a Savior was indeed born, just as God the Father had predicted. He was the offspring of God and the Virgin Mary, and He was also God in the Flesh. God blessed the Holy Child, and He grew up in the fear and admonition of the Father. When Jesus was 12 years old, Mary and Joseph lost track of Him while they were in the Holy City on important business. They searched frantically for him for several days, only to find Him amazing the Jews with His knowledge and wisdom in the Temple in the Holy City. Jesus looked at them strangely and said, “Didn’t you know that I would be about my Father’s business?” We don’t have the details of Jesus’ life past this point until He was about 30 years old. Jesus was ready to start His ministry by the age of about 30. He went and found the man who was preparing the way for Him - a man who ate locusts and honey by the name of John the Baptist. As Jesus approached the place where John the Baptist was baptizing folks for the remission of their sins, John looked up and cried out, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John was shocked at the idea that Jesus needed baptizing, but He insisted upon it. When John dunked Jesus in the water, the Father spoke from the clouds in approval of the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit flew down from Heaven in the form of a dove and landed on the Lord’s shoulder, thereby sealing God’s approval of His ministry. Jesus roamed the countryside with His twelve disciples and preached and taught the multitudes over the next three years or so. Some folks wisely believed on Him, while others listened to Satan and remained deceived and unwisely did not believe on Him. Jesus constantly challenged and upset the Jews, so they wanted Him put to death. They tried to capture Him on more than one occasion, but it wasn’t His time to die yet. When His time finally did come, He told Judas (who had been possessed by Satan) to do what he had to do quickly. Judas did his pre-ordained job, and betrayed Jesus to the Jews. The Jews captured Him, and took Him before the Romans to be put to death. Pilate could find no reason to kill Him, but the Jews insisted. So, Pilate released Barabbas - a convicted killer - to them and took Jesus to be executed. As was predicted in the Old Testament (see Isaiah 53), Jesus was beaten and bruised and then crucified. After Jesus cried out, “Father, into Your Hands I commit my Spirit!”, Satan thought that he had gotten the victory since Jesus was dead! But, Jesus had predicted that He would rise from the dead three days later, and history records that it really happened! What Satan thought was his biggest victory turned out to be his biggest defeat! Jesus died on Friday night, but raised Himself from the dead on Sunday morning! Hallelujah! After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples and to many people, further proving Himself to be God. After His final appearance at the Mount of Olives, He returned to Heaven to live forever with the Father and to be our Advocate before the Father. Jesus is our High Priest and Advocate before the Father. If we accept Him as our Savior, He will forgive us of our sins and cleanse us and make us whole. If we choose to reject Jesus and His saving message, then we have no right standing before the Father, and we will quite justifiably go to Hell for our sins. The essential message of Christianity is that because of what Adam and Eve did, we are all sinners, and we need the forgiveness and love of God. Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross to save you from Hell. Won’t you accept His free Love Gift of eternal life today? All you have to do is ask Him sincerely, and He will forgive you of your sins and give you a new eternal life in Himself. Don’t wait! Do it today! Praise God! 3 Key Steps to Radiant Beauty

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Danny Siegenthaler Beauty is so subjective, yet both men and women are constantly striving to achieve that ‘Body Beautiful’. This is promoted through the media, where we are constantly bombarded with images of beautiful men and women who, by implication, are successful because of their good looks. Beauty however, is much more than just skin deep and true beauty comes from within. There are simple steps, which anyone can follow to look and feel more beautiful. Beauty is much more about how you feel and project yourself, than it is about the size of your waist, number of lines on your face or darkness of your tan. It is about the projection of health, vigour and confidence. So how can you achieve this radiant beauty? Simple. There are 3 key steps you need to incorporate into your daily life to bring to the outside the beauty within. Step 1 - Diet Yes, it is an old clich, but you are what you eat. Your skin, eyes, weight, looks and even your emotional state are influenced by what you eat. Eat rubbish, and youll feel like rubbish, and that is what youll project to the people around you. This sounds hard, and many of you will not believe this to be true, but the fact is that if your diet does not consist of a well rounded, nutritionally balanced intake of good quality food, sooner or later your body will reflect this. So what is a well rounded, nutritionally balanced diet? Diets come in all shapes and sizes. Everyday we read or hear about another miracle diet that will loose us those extra kilos, make us look a million dollars and so on… Unfortunately, most of these diets do not work, at least not for the majority of people who try them. This is not always the fault of the diet, but often this is due to the fact that the celebrity who is promoting this diet has a completely different lifestyle to the one we have. They can afford to spend hours in the gym, have personal trainers and have the cash to buy the high quality foods, vitamins, herbs, etc. Another aspect is time pressure. Often it is a lack of time that prevents us from doing what we know we should be doing, but simply do not have the time to do. Or do we? According to the AC Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day! Now that is a lot of time that could be invested into more productive activities. So let’s look at what you should be eating. The first thing is, do not go on a diet. Yes, thats right, do not go on a diet. Rather look at what you are eating and make better choices. First, stop purchasing highly processed foods like TV dinners and the like, stop buying junk food during the day to have a quick lunch or even to substitute a sound breakfast. It does not take any longer to cut up a banana and add it to some natural yogurt together with some oats, nuts and grains, than it does to get into the queue at your local fast food outlet. The quality of food however is as different as day and night. The natural breakfast will provide you with much higher nutritional value than anything you can get from a fast food outlet. Secondly, when doing your shopping, focus on buying fresh fruits and vegetables, organic if you like, but thats not necessary. Focus on making meals rather than buying them already made. Ready made meals have preservatives and other additives you do not need and that may not be good for you. Stick to making the meals yourself. Take some of the TV time and invest it in your health. Thirdly, it is better for your body to eat small meals frequently rather than one large meal at night, as so many of us do. Remember that you do not need a lot of energy to sleep, but you do need energy to tackle your day-to-day activities. It is therefore best to eat the largest meal of the day in the morning and decreasingly large portions subsequently during the day. Use fresh fruits and nuts to provide you with healthy, quick little snakes that will sustain you during the day. Come dinner-time, make meals that are light and easy to digest. There are hundreds of books out there that will provide you with recipes that are easy to make, healthy and of high nutritional value. Finally, keep this in mind when preparing meals. Use small quantities of many foods. For example, try to exceed 15 different fruits and vegetables every day. This does not mean you need to eat 15 pieces of fruit/vegetables, but rather small portions of more than 15 wholesome foods. In a muesli for instance, use rolled oats, dried or fresh banana, apple, pears, berries, add different nuts such as almonds, pecans, hazel nuts, walnuts, add a handful of pine seeds, raw oats, raisins and sultanas. Then, when making your salad use lots of different vegetables, don’t be afraid to experiment. You see how easy it is to achieve variety of over 15 different foods in anyone day. In addition, don’t forget to have fish 2 or 3 times a week. Yes, it’s a change in the way you are used to doing things, but these sorts of changes are exactly what is needed if you want to achieve that body beautiful. Are you prepared to pay the price? If not, dont bother reading on. If yes, then there are some additional steps you can take to bring you closer to where you want to be. Step 2 - Exercise Err, I hear you say. Not that again. I dont have time to go to the gym… I hate going to the gym… Well, so do I, but exercise is the one thing that will keep your body fit and help you to achieve the physical well being. Dont go to the gym unless you feel comfortable in that environment and you like being there. There are equally good ways you can get exercise all the way through your day, without necessarily taking time out to go and do exercise. How? Easy. Park your car a block or two away from the office, shops, or where ever youre going and walk the extra distance. Youll probably find it easier to find a parking spot and that is reducing your stress levels already. At the office, walk over to a colleague instead of sending them an email or texting them. Take the stairs to walk up to your office. When it comes time for lunch, take it, go outside and take a little walk. At home, maybe you could go for a walk after dinner instead of watching the box or sitting in front of the computer. Not 3 hours, 30-40 minutes is all you need to help strengthen your cardio-vascular system. Your skin will look healthier, your body will feel healthier and guess what, youll actually start to look healthier too. This is all you need to do to get started. If you want to get fitter and maybe increase your muscle tone, you might want to re-think the gym idea, or some other form of exercise you enjoy. This is the key YOU MUST ENJOY THE EXERCISE other wise you will not continue to do it for very long and any little reason not to do it will be good enough. It may take you a bit of experimenting to find out what form of exercise you do like. Maybe its riding a bike, swimming, yoga, tai chi, bush walking or mountain climbing. Or maybe it is playing a sport such as tennis, squash, football or what ever. They key is to find something you like doing, that way it is no longer exercise its become a hobby. At this point there is another sub-key, if you like and this is the adequate intake of water. Our bodies require 2 litres of water each and every day to function normally. If the body does not get 2 litres of water, it will start to become de-hydrated. Dehydration is very subtle at times and may be not obvious to you, but you will start to get dry skin, possibly become constipated and the body will not like you for neglecting its needs. Sooner or later it will let you know one way or the other. So, dont tempt it, give it what it wants and make sure you consume at least 2 litres of water daily, more if you do physical work or exercise vigorously. Remember that water helps to flush out toxins from your body, which are better off out than in and you will feel better for it. Step 3 - Skin care Yes, skin care is important. Your skin is the defence between your external environment and the inside of your body. It performs a vital function in protecting you from harmful substances and microbes and it help in the elimination of toxins as well as in temperature regulation. A daily skin care regime is vital for a healthy, vibrant appearance and should be followed by men and women alike. I’ve covered this topic in detail in an other article, which is entitled Daily Skin Care Regime - Why is a Daily Skin Care Regime Important? however, let me reiterate the most important steps. The key steps in a daily skin care regime are: Cleansing, Toning and Moisturising. On a weekly basis you also need to include exfoliation and possibly using a deep cleansing clay mask to rid your skin of excessive dead skin cells and remove the deep seated dirt lodged in the pores of your skin. Make use of a natural skin care system, rather than using skin care products, which contain potentially harmful, synthetic chemicals. Many of these chemicals are absorbed by your skin and have been shown to have the potential to cause more harm than good. This comes back to using natural substances rather than highly processed ones. Apply this concept not just to the food you eat, but what you put on your skin as well. Lego-Still As Popular As Ever

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Hamish Hayward Lego the childrens toy comprising of multi coloured plastic interlocking bricks -was born in 1934 when Danish master carpenter and toymaker, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, combined the Danish words leg godt which means play well to form the now famous brand name. In 1947, together with his son Godtfred, Kristiansen obtained samples of interlocking plastic bricks produced by Kiddicraft. These had been designed and patented in the UK by a child psychologist Hilary Harry fisher Page. Lego began producing similar bricks in 1949, named automatic binding bricks. They were not an immediate success as plastic toys were considered to be inferior to wooden ones at this time. There were some early problems with the bricks locking abilities and it was not until 1958 that the modern design was developed. Even then, it took a further 5 years to find exactly the right material for optimum performance. The material chosen in 1963 was acrylonitrile butadiene styrene - or ABS very common today, but groundbreaking and innovative at the time. In 1959 Lego was introduced to the UK, Belgium and France. The product was launched in the USA and Canada in 1961 and was an immediate success. Continuous development and the introduction of new ranges often tied in with major motion pictures has ensured that Lego remains popular today with the children and grandchildren of the first generation to get their hands on it. There are product lines for all ages starting from the youngest children whose needs are catered for by the Duplo range, the standard range and The technic and Mindstorm ranges for older children, teenagers and even adults. Themed sets exist for Pirates, Dinosaurs, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Batman, Bionicles etc. There are currently no fewer than four Legoland theme parks in existence (one in Denmark, one in the UK, one in Germany and one in the USA) . Adults and children can visit to see fantastic examples of lego models and creations, visit themed areas, go on fun rides and even drive electric lego cars or pilot lego boats. There is also, of course, a website, where children can see the latest lego creations, get hints and tips on how to use their lego toys, take part in online discussions and get access to a wide variety of downloads. It is even used for business training events, as a tool to both demonstrate production processes and engender teamworking! There seems to be no end to its versatility. However, whilst there can be no doubt that the wide and frequently updated product range is a major factor in Legos ongoing success, and the marketing and web presence also help, the key enduring factor is that it stimulates childrens creativity and appeals to their innate curiosity. The fundamentally educational nature of the toy, and the fun that its use provides, means that it also receives widespread approval from adults. All in all, it seems likely that the multi coloured plastic blocks are likely to be around for a long time in some shape or form. Depression Medication

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By David McEvoy Depression can affect any one of us at any time of our lives and is more than just feeling a bit fed up or down in the dumps. When you cannot just snap out of it and the symptoms of depression persist for more than a couple of weeks, and interfere with your ability to carry out your normal routines on a daily basis, then your health care provider or GP may prescribe some form of medication to help you combat the depression. There are many different types of anti-depressants available and the earlier ones include Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) and Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs). Newer types include Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and others, which may not fall into one specific category but which all work by impacting on the chemicals in the brain that are responsible for our mood and how we feel. The following list represents the most commonly prescribed drugs for depression, their brand names and the name of the pharmaceutical company producing them (in brackets), as well as a brief description of how the different types are believed to work. Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs) Tricyclic antidepressants are so called because of their molecular structure in that they contain three rings of atoms. Although no one understands exactly how they work, it is thought that the beneficial effects are due to their ability to balance the natural neurotransmitter chemicals in the brain. The most common side effects are dry mouth and drowsiness and possibly blurred vision, sweating, and a slight hesitancy when passing urine. The following list represents some of the most commonly prescribed Tricyclic antidepressants: Doxepin - Brand names: Adapin (Lotus Biochemical Corporation) and Sinequan (Pfizer Inc) Clomipramine - Brand names: Anafranil (Geneva Pharmaceuticals) Nortriptylene - Brand Names: Aventyl (Eli & Lilly) and Pamelor (Novartis Pharmaceuticals) Imipramine - Brand Names: Tofranil (Novartis Pharmaceuticals) Protriptyline - Brand Names: Vivactil (Merck & Co) Trimipramine - Brand Names: Surmontil (Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals) Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) This type of medication works by inhibiting the activity of the enzyme monoamine oxidase, which in turn increases the levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine. They are not prescribed as often as they used to be as the newer type of medication known as SSRIs have become more popular. MAOIs would usually be prescribed when other medications have proved ineffective. MAOIs can interact with foods containing tyramine and raise blood pressure; they can also interact unfavourably with many other drugs and over the counter preparations. Some MAOIs include: Isocarboxazid - Brand Name: Marplan (Oxford Pharmaceutical Services) Phenelzine - Brand Name: Nardil (Pfizer Inc) Tranylcypromine - Brand Name: Parnate (Glaxo Smith Kline) Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) SSRIs work by selectively inhibiting the reuptake of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain so that levels of serotonin are increased. They are generally considered safer than other types. Side effects include nausea, anxiety, sleep disturbances and sexual dysfunction. They can also interact with other drugs. Some of the more commonly prescribed SSRIs include: Citalopram - Brand Name: Celexa (Forest Pharmaceuticals) Escitalopram - Brand Name: Lexapro (Forest Pharmaceuticals) Fluoextine - Brand Name: Prozac (Eli & Lilly) Fluvoxamine - Brand Name: Luvox (Solvay Pharmaceuticals) Paroxetine - Brand Name: Paxil (Glaxo Smith Kline) Setraline - Brand Name: Zoloft (Pfizer Inc) Some other types of medication There are other types of medication available for depression which are not included in the previous categories but which all work in various ways to alter the balance of chemicals in the brain to alleviate depression. For example: Bupropion works by inhibiting the reuptake of both norepinephrine and dopamine. Often used to treat the type of depression known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), as well as ADHD and as part of a stopping smoking programme. Brand Name: Wellbutrin (Glaxo Smith Kline) Duloxetine works by inhibiting the reuptake of both serotonin and noradrenaline (SNRI). Brand Name: Cymbalta (Eli & Lilly) Venlafaxine Also an SNRI. Brand Name: Effexor (Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals) Maprotiline Known as a tetracyclic antidepressant because its molecular structure consists of 4 rings in a T shape. Brand Names: Ludiomil (Novartis Pharmaceuticals) Which type medication is most suitable? The type of medication prescribed by your GP will depend on many factors including the kind of depression diagnosed, the severity of the symptoms, other medication that you may be taking and of course the potential risk of any side effects. It is not possible to predict with any degree of accuracy which one will be most effective and it can take a number of weeks for any effects to be noticed. If after six weeks or so there is no improvement, then another medication may be prescribed until you find the most appropriate one for you. Regardless of the type of depression diagnosed, the right medication can alleviate the symptoms of depression and help you get back to your old self again. Depression is a serious condition that can strike anyone at anytime. For more information about depression and self help come and visit =>Fighting Depression. A Better Life For You! - Your New Independence Day?

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Dr. Peter James There now follows a one sided conversation written or should I say more aptly, addressed to no-one, but to everyone in many ways a conversation that when you read it, a lot of you may find that you can relate to, so you may well find that you are responding to the following lines as you read the passage. There is nothing wrong in reading or behaving like this as it is there to alert you to the need to be aware of life going on around us and all sorts of people in our sometimes daily lives, who are in turn aching to have such a conversation and are unable to, because they feel that no-one will listen to them. We must all learn to be aware of others in our lives, no matter how high or low our opinions of them may be at the time. So take note, we are all individuals making up this worlds population, we are all brothers and sisters, we all need to belong together. “My friend, how are you?” “Why are you feeling down?” “No, you are not on your own, you never have been, or ever will be.” “Yes, I know that it is hard to believe.” “What makes you think that you are so different from someone else?” “Hang on a minute; Ive been there as well, so there is not anyway that, you can say that no-one understands.” “Yes, it is hard to believe, is it not?” “No, No, No, thats not the way to do it, just bottling something up just makes it worse, and I used to do that. It made me tired, irritable, shy, untrusting, wary, generally an un-person, no-one would speak to me or help me as they felt that I treated them like dirt, so they ignored me when ever I was around, this led to a very hurtful life for me.” “Whats that?” “Oh yes, some tried to help, do you know what I did? Kicked them in the face for it, just threw it back at them, I lied to them, cheated on them, pretended Id done something, or just plain ignored them, strung them along in fact.” “Why?” “Ill try to tell you why, I was so intent in wallowing in my own self pity, claiming that no-one understood me, that no-one cared, even saying so to those that tried to help. Stupid isnt it? When someone shows they care, pushing it back in their face.” “Do you know something? It is their very own perseverance in trying to help you, by making you help yourself - instead of wallowing in your own mire.” “I didnt accept it at first, but now we can show you how to help yourself, then increase that help as it shows you need it.” “Once, a while back I got sick of being sorry for myself and stood up to my problems. Stood up to my life, which wasnt a proper life, caused me to stand up and be counted.” “Youve heard it all before, have you?” “Well think about it will you?” “Then really soon youll be standing up where I am. “True, nothing is perfect, but you will be well on the way to helping yourself and others around you to a happier life, outside the personal prison that you have built for yourself. You will find that care, trust and respect enter your life. Honesty will also appear, along with understanding. All the other signs of lying, irritable behaviour, untrusting attitudes, wariness, shyness and loneliness will all fade away in due course as your life progresses. Yes, it may have been going on for years, but that is not a good or valid reason to think that nothing can be done to help you. No, it may not happen over night, but at an increasing pace over the coming weeks and months of your life. I can quite believe you not understanding it before. As I said earlier, no matter what we go through in life, someone has been there before us. No, theres no need to thank me in words. Show me in deeds and acts, which are more than enough thanks for me, and all those around who are trying to help. Let us all as a team break down the wall that you have built yourself. “I’ll give you one piece of advice. Learn to work as a team with others.” Not only in groups, why not someone special as well, someone who is willing to help and can grow to understand you.” So do your best, you cant do any better than that. All you have to say is those two little words - help me, and they will. Try to remember you are not alone, or ever have been, or ever will be. Yes, I enjoy talking with you as well.” “Yes - Ill be thinking of you. Take care.” “Bye for now, keep in touch.” Since the age of 16 when the author discovered that he was adopted, his curiosity was roused, sharpened and then over time honed to it’s present state by an insatiable and ever growing desire to find out ‘What makes people tick’. Was it simply modern life, with all it’s stresses and Dog eat Dog lifestyles? Evolution not catching up with today fast enough for us to adapt properly? Tomorrow arriving before today has had a chance to even arrive? A combination of all three being present at the same time seems to hold some water! The Author has also studied modern day effects whilst looking into the prior mentioned triple whammy, among them the effects and causes of mental pain on people in everyday lives they lead, during the last 30+ years, he has a knack of seeing people in their own light without them realizing they are being observed and analyzed for their own benefit. He passed his Masters in September 2000 and attained his First Doctorate in during 2004 and has recently attained a second DSc in Psychology. Dangers of Dehydration - And The Importance of Kidney Cleansing

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Andreas Moritz The human body is composed of 75 percent water and 25 percent solid matter. To provide nourishment, eliminate waste and regulate all the functions in the body, we need water. Most modern societies, however, no longer stress the importance of drinking water as the most important nutrient among all nutrients. Entire population groups are substituting water with tea, coffee, alcohol and other manufactured beverages. Many people dont realize that the natural thirst signal of the body is a sign that it requires pure, plain drinking water. Instead, they opt for other beverages in the belief that this would satisfy the bodys water requirements. This is a false belief. It is true that beverages such as tea, coffee, wine, beer, soft drinks and juices contain water but they also contain caffeine, alcohol, sugar, artificial sweeteners or other chemicals that act as strong dehydrators. The more you drink these beverages, the more dehydrated you become because the effects they create in the body are exactly opposite to the ones that are produced by water. Caffeine containing beverages, for example, trigger stress responses that have strong diuretic effects (causing increased urination, at first). Beverages with added sugar drastically raise blood sugar levels, which uses up large quantities of cellular water, too. Regular consumption of such beverages results in chronic dehydration, which is a common factor in every toxicity crisis. There is no practical or rational reason to treat an illness (toxicity crisis) with synthetic drugs or even with natural medications and methods unless the bodys need for hydration has been met first. Drugs and other forms of medical intervention can be dangerous for the human physiology largely because of their dehydrating effects. Most patients today are suffering from thirst disease, a progressive state of dehydration in certain areas of the body. Unable to remove toxins from these parts due to insufficient water supply, the body is faced with the consequences of their destructive effects. The lack of recognition of the most basic aspects of water metabolism in our body can be held responsible for seeing a disease when it really is the bodys urgent cry for water. Recognizing Dehydration Those who have lived for many years without proper water intake are the most likely to succumb to the build-up of toxins in the body. Chronic disease is always accompanied by dehydration and, in many cases, caused by dehydration. The longer a person lives on a low water ration and/or on a high ration of stimulating beverages or foods, the more severe and long lasting is the toxicity crisis. Heart disease, obesity, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach ulcers, hypertension, cancer, MS, Alzheimers, and many other chronic forms of disease are precipitated by years of body drought. Infectious agents such as bacteria and viruses cannot thrive in a well-hydrated body. Drinking enough water is therefore one of the most important preventives for any disease. People who do not drink enough water or unduly deplete their bodys water reserves through overstimulation for a period of time gradually lower the ratio of the volume of water that exists inside the cells to the ratio of volume of water that is found outside the cells. Under dehydrated conditions, the cells may lose up to 28% or more of their water volume. This certainly undermines all cellular activities, whether they occur in skin cells, stomach cells, liver cells, kidney cells or heart cells. Whenever there is cellular dehydration, metabolic waste products are retained, causing symptoms that resemble disease but in truth are nothing but signs of disturbed water metabolism. Since more and more water begins to accumulate outside the cells, the dehydration may not be apparent to the afflicted person; he may in fact notice that he retains water, leading to swelling of his legs, feet, arms and face. Also his kidneys may begin to hold on to water, markedly reducing urinary secretion and causing retention of harmful waste material. Even the enzymes and proteins living in the dehydrated cells become so inefficient that they are no longer able to recognize the dehydrated state of the body; they fail to set off the thirst alarm. Demetria, a 53-year-old Greek woman consulted me to find relief for a painful condition of gallbladder disease. Her skin was dark gray, indicating a high concentration of toxins in her liver and throughout her body. Seeing how dehydrated (and swollen) her body was, I offered her a glass of water. She said: I never drink water, it makes me sick! I told her that her natural thirst signals no longer worked because of cellular dehydration and that without drinking water her body could not return to balance. Any water she would drink would instantly be used to remove some of the toxins lurking in her stomach, giving rise to nausea. In her case, any other therapy than drinking water would have been a waste of time and money. A dehydrated person may also suffer from lack of energy. Due to the shortage of water inside the cell the normal osmotic flow of water through the cell membrane becomes disrupted or severely disturbed. Like in a stream, the movement of water into the cells generates hydroelectric energy, which is subsequently stored in form of ATP molecules (the main source of cellular energy). Normally, the water we drink keeps the cell volume balanced and the salt we eat maintains the balanced volume of water that is held outside the cells and in circulation; this generates the right osmotic pressure necessary for cellular nourishment and energy production. During dehydration, this basic process is undermined. The Pain Connection Another major indicator of dehydration in the body is pain. In response to increasing water shortage, the brain activates and stores the important neurotransmitter histamine, which directs certain subordinate water regulators to redistribute the amount of water that is in circulation. This system helps move water to areas where it is needed for basic metabolic activity and survival (from drought). When histamine and its subordinate regulators for water intake and distribution come across pain-sensing nerves in the body, they cause strong and continual pain. These pain signals, as they manifest, for example, in rheumatoid arthritis, angina, dyspepsia, low back problems, neuralgia, migraine, and hangover headaches, etc., are necessary to alert the person to attend to the problem of general or local dehydration. Taking analgesics or other pain relieving medications such as antihistamines or antacids can cause irreversible damage in the body. They not only fail to address the real problem (which may be dehydration) but they also cut the connection between the neurotransmitter histamine and its subordinate regulators such as vasopressin, Renin-Angiotensin (RA), prostaglandin (PG), and kinins. Although the action of the pain killing drugs can relieve local pain for a while, they nevertheless stop the body from knowing the priority areas for water distribution, adding confusion to all its functions. Antihistamines — also known as allergy drugs effectively prevent the body’s histamines from ensuring balanced water distribution. In addition to jeopardizing the water regulating mechanisms, after reaching a certain pain threshold, painkillers become ineffective because the brain takes over as a direct center for monitoring pain perpetuation (unless of course the body is hydrated again). If the body produces pain out of its own accord (not caused through an injury), this should first be interpreted as a cry for water. The use of painkillers, which suppress this cardinal signal of chronic and local dehydration in the body and which short circuit its emergency routes, sabotages waste elimination and sows the seeds of chronic illness. There is enough documentation to show that these drugs can have fatal side effects. They can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, killing thousands each year. Yet the bodys natural pain signals are perfectly normal responses to an abnormal situation, which may be simple dehydration. In the case that a pain is simply unbearable, the use of painkillers, however, may be unavoidable. At the same time, the pain-afflicted person should drink plenty of fresh water and discontinue all energy-depleting factors, as these tend to have a strongly dehydrating effect. Body Drought - the Strongest Form of Stress Our brain, working round the clock, requires more water than any other part of the body. Under normal conditions, it contains about twenty percent of all the blood that circulates through the body. It is estimated that brain cells consist of 85 percent water. Their energy requirements are not only met by metabolizing glucose (simple sugar), but also by generating hydroelectric energy from the water drive through cell osmosis. The brain depends greatly on this self-generated source of energy to maintain its complex processes and efficiency. Water deficiency in the brain tissue cut downs its energy supply and thereby depresses many of its vital functions hence the word depression. With a low level of brain energy, we are unable to meet our personal and social challenges and subsequently succumb to fear, anxiety, anger and other emotional problems. We may feel drained, lethargic, stressed and depressed. The chronic fatigue syndrome, which is commonly known as M.E., is mainly a symptom of progressive brain dehydration and subsequent retention of metabolic toxins in the brain. The syndrome may disappear on its own when the afflicted person stops stimulating the brain with caffeine, tobacco, drugs, animal products, etc., and begins a consequent program of re-hydrating the body. The Stress Response When dehydrated, the body has to put up the fight of a lifetime — similar to the one experienced in a fight or flight situation. The body meets a crisis situation by mobilizing several powerful hormones, including adrenalin, endorphins, cortisone, prolactin, vasopressin, and Renin-Angiotensin (RA). Endorphins, for example, help us to withstand pain and stress and allow the body to continue most of its functions. Cortisone orders the mobilisation of stored energies and essential raw materials to supply the body with energy and basic nutrients during the crisis. In other words, this hormone allows the body to literally feed off itself. This in itself is a very stressful and damaging situation for the body and is expressed by such emotions as, I cant cope anymore or, I feel this is eating at me. Many patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS or other degenerative diseases take cortisone drugs, which often give them a boost of energy and morale for a relatively short period of time. The success of the drug, however, only lasts as long as there are still reserves left in the body that can be mobilized for energy and nutrient distribution. Once the body has used up its emergency reserves the organism can barely function anymore and the symptoms of disease become worse than ever. Constriction of blood vessels When the cells in the body are under-supplied with water, the brains pituitary gland produces the neurotransmitter vasopressin, a hormone that has the property of constricting blood vessels in areas where there is cellular dehydration. During dehydration, the quantity of water in the bloodstream is reduced. Vasopressin, as its name suggests, squeezes the vascular system, i.e., the capillaries and arteries, to reduce their fluid volume. This maneuver is necessary to continue having enough pressure to allow for a steady filtration of water into the cells. This gives vasopressin a hypertensive property. High blood pressure is a common experience among people who are dehydrated (for more information on hypertension and heart disease, see chapter 8). A similar situation occurs in the livers bile ducts, which begin to constrict in response to restricted availability of water. Gallstone formation is a direct result of dehydration. A person who drinks alcohol suppresses the secretion of vasopressin and thereby increases cellular dehydration (if alcohol consumption is excessive, cellular dehydration may reach dangerously high levels). To survive the body drought, the body has to secrete ever more stress hormones, among them the addictive endorphins. With regular consumption of alcohol, meaning every day for several years, dehydration increases even further and endorphin production becomes an addictive habit. This may lead to alcoholism, a disease that has devastating consequences on a persons personal and social life. Water Retention and Kidney Damage The Renin-Angiotensin (RA) system is activated when there is a water shortage in the body. This system is used to direct the body to hold on to water wherever possible. It instructs the kidneys to inhibit urination and tightens the capillaries and the vascular system, particularly in areas that are not as vital as the brain and the heart muscles. At the same time, it stimulates an increase in the absorption of sodium (salt), which helps the body to retain water. Unless the body returns to its normal level of hydration, the RA system remains activated. But this also means that the pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels remains abnormally high, causing the damage that is known as cardiovascular disease. Hypertension and the retention of urine in the kidneys lead to kidney damage. Conventional treatments for this condition consist mostly of diuretic (urine forming) drugs and restricted salt consumption. Both may have severe drawbacks. Diuretic drugs, which are used to normalize the blood pressure, as well as reduced salt intake strongly undermine the bodys emergency efforts to save the little water it has left for cell functions. The resulting stress response causes a further increase in dehydration and the vicious cycle is complete. There are so many kidney replacements made today that result from chronic dehydration, caused by something as simple as not drinking enough water or overstimulation of the nervous system. The Caffeine and Alcohol Drama The caffeine contained in such beverages as tea, coffee, cacao or colas not only stimulates the central nervous system and immune system but also acts as a strong diuretic. For every cup of coffee or tea you drink you relinquish approximately three cups of water, which the body cannot afford to give up without suffering damage. The caffeine containing cola beverages work in a similar way. Caffeine, being a nerve toxin, stimulates the bodys stress hormones and triggers a strong immune response that may give a person the (false) impression that his level of energy and vitality has suddenly increased. To remove the nerve toxin caffeine, the body has to come up with extra water, which it takes from its cells. Hence there is an occurrence of cellular dehydration. Caffeine, which is a major component in most soft drinks, removes water from the body faster than the body can absorb it again, thereby generating constant thirst. People, who frequently take soft drinks, can never really quench their thirst because their bodies continually and increasingly run out of cellular water. There are college students who drink as many as 10-14 cans of cola a day. Eventually, they confuse their bodies never-ending thirst signal with hunger and they begin to overeat, causing swelling and excessive weight gain. Apart from its diuretic action and its addictive effects on the brain, regular caffeine intake overstimulates the heart muscles, causing exhaustion and heart disease. Alcohol has a similar diuretic effect as caffeine containing beverages. For every glass of beer, for example, the body is forced to sacrifice about three glasses of water. A hangover results when due to alcohol abuse the brain suffers severe dehydration. If this occurs repeatedly, a large number of brain cells become damaged and die. Many important brain functions slow down or become depressed. Recovery is possible to a certain extent if alcohol consumption is discontinued. Kidney Stones The main functions of the kidneys are to keep the blood pure and healthy and maintain proper fluid balance in the body. To accomplish this difficult feat, the kidneys constantly monitor normal blood volume and filter from the blood the right quantity of urine to keep it balanced. There are many influences that can disrupt this mechanism and cause congestion in the kidneys. They include overstimulation, dehydration, fatigue, overeating, gallstones, blood pressure disturbance, medical or narcotic drugs, vitamins, digestive disorders, etc. When the kidneys are incapable of sufficiently separating the urine from the blood, part of the urine continues to circulate throughout the body, depositing urinary waste products in the blood vessels, joints, tissues, and organs. Skin diseases, strong body odor, sweating of palms and feet, water retention, intestinal swelling, high blood pressure, etc. are all signs of toxic blood caused by crystals and stones in the kidneys. Stones in the kidneys begin as tiny crystals and can eventually become as large as an egg. The tiny crystals are too small to be detected by X-rays and since they do not cause pain, they are rarely noticed yet they are big enough to block the flow of liquid through the tiny kidney tubules. Crystals or stones are formed in the kidneys when urinary constituents, which normally in solution, are precipitated. Precipitation occurs when these particles occur in excessive amounts or when urine becomes too concentrated. The crystal particles or stones are usually full of sharp angles, which may cut and wear away the inner surface of the urinary canal (ureter) during their passage from the kidneys to the bladder. This causes severe pain in the loins or lower back. There may even be blood in the urine, pain running down the legs, numbness in the thighs and a difficulty in passing urine. Most crystals or stones originate in the kidneys, although some may also be formed in the bladder. If a large stone enters a ureter, urine flow becomes obstructed. This can lead to serious complications, such as kidney infection or kidney failure. Why The Need For A Kidney Cleanse? The kidneys make a tremendous effort in trying to keep the body clear of toxic substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury and other impassable pollutants. They also maintain fluid and electrolyte balance and regulate the pressure from the heart that forces the blood through their filtering system. Kidney stones greatly impair this ability, which consequently increases the amounts of heavy metals and raises the bodys general level of toxicity. This can lead to infection, high blood pressure, heart disease, brain disorders, cancer and many other diseases. The following signs indicate the presence of crystals and stones in the kidneys or bladder: A dark or whitish color under the eyes; puffy or swollen eyes, particularly in the morning; deep wrinkles under and around the eyes; tiny whitish, tan-colored or dark lumps under the eyes, which can be felt or made visible when stretching the skin outwards towards the cheekbones; overlapping of the skin of the upper eyelid; chronic pain in the lower back; swelling of feet and legs; constant fear or anxiety. There are a number of herbs that can effectively dissolve kidney stones within a period of 20-30 days (see the updated kidney cleanse protocol in the book The Amazing Liver & Gallbladder Flush (www.ener-chi.com); you can purchase the herbs from The Present Moment Herbs and Books in Minneapolis, tel. 800-378-3245 (ask for the “Moritz Kidney Tea”) or other herb stores. Whether someone has been diagnosed as having kidney stones or not, doing a kidney cleanse once or twice a year produces tremendous curative and preventive benefits. The kidney cleanse not only improves physical health but also reduces stress, fear and anxieties. All Major Religions Believe in a God

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By Lance Winslow It is said that all major religions believe in God or a God. Some major religions believe in multiple gods in one entity or many gods with different attributes. But this does not mean that a god or gods exist at all. Just because billions of people in the planet have been brainwashed from the time they were very young into a religious following or organized cult does not mean it is real or that there even is a God. It is similar to the innate characteristic of human beings to follow others rather than think for themselves. After all it is easier to follow than to lead. Many people believe that the reason that humans believe in a God is it allows them to communicate with a higher source than self. But in doing so often the followers of large religions give up self and their life experience to live their life in a way, which has been designed by another. He who gives up his life experience for another cannot experience life to its fullest. And we know that all world religions are controlled by other men who wish to control the masses. So just because all major religions believe in a God is meaningless, so what? If a hundred people jumped off a bridge, would you jump too? If you want to find the person who controls religion, he will be the person who does not jump and says he will go last. Trust me, he will say. The only reason why all religions believe in a God is because those who control religion have discovered this method works to control humans. Consider this in 2006. “Lance Winslow” - Online Think Tank forum board. Buying a Mobile Phone?

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Umesh_Gupta]Umesh Gupta Mobile phones are no longer simply a device which is used to communicate with others. Today it has become a multi fashion accessory and a statement of who you are and how you address to the world. While purchasing a mobile phone, you need to address a number of issues. You have to decide which handset suits you best and what extras and accessories you want to go along with it. For that you need to compare a range of different offers from different phones and service providers before arriving at a decision that works for you. You need to make sure the phone you pick has the features you need. Take advantage of the special discounted phones (some are offered free) from the online mobile phone shops. Decide why do you need a mobile phone and where do you need it. Ask people using mobile phones and ask them what company they are using for service and what do they like and what problems do they have with the service or the company. Its better to choose a company offering many month-to-month plans rather than a company with mostly annual plans. The things you will need to probably care about while buying a mobile phone are screen size, robustness, web features, price, weight, internet capabilities, standby time, size of the phone and how long the battery lasts between charges. The most important thing to consider when you choose a mobile phone is functions. Apart from calling and receiving calls, people demand more out of their mobile phones like camera feature, MP3 player, etc. To the average consumer, figuring out what’s the best out of an array of mobile phone handsets and plans is confusing. But these days, the online mobile shops are well organized so you can browse the latest models and compare service plans very conveniently. Marketing With Business Cards

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By Andrew Leone There are many different ways to market you business, especially when you have your operations running online. One very simple way to get your name out there is through the use of business cards. These can be bought relatively inexpensive and are easy to distribute. The first thing that you are going to want to do is find a company that lets you order a large number of cards. I personally recommend Vistaprints at www.vistaprints.com. Here you will be able to create and purchase a large amount of cards at a reasonable price. I recommend ordering around 2000 of them. When you are in the process of creating your cards, make sure to register a domain name linked to your website if you dont already have one, and place it on the card. That way, all someone has to do is check out your website in order to see your product and/or opportunity. After your cards arrive, you might ask, What am I supposed to do with these now? This is a very common question that I get all the time. To answer it, let me give you a few examples of how to get all 2000 of your cards out to the right people within a month. You know when you get those pesky bills that you have to pay every month, well one great way to distribute your business cards is by dropping a few in with the payment of those bills. Remember, there is always someone who has to open your bill on the other end. Another way that is very efficient when handing out you cards is placing them in business books throughout your local bookstores. Next time you go to a bookstore, stop by the business section and place your business cards in a few books (not too many). That way your cards are directed to people looking for opportunities within the business realm. Finally, you can never go wrong just handing them out to people you meet. When you give someone your card, there is a much larger chance that they will do business with you simply because they can put a face to the business. I highly recommend this method and never fail to use it myself. By using this simple method of marketing with business cards you can plan on handing out all 2000 of your cards in the very first month of business. This will greatly increase the traffic directed to your company and hopefully increase your overall profits. From Viagra To Levitra: The Evolutionary Growth Of Erectile Dysfunction Pills

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Earnshaw_Peters] Earnshaw Peters Historical as well as analytical observation draws attention to the eventual progress of humanity as now we are in a comparatively better position than where we had found ourselves twenty or thirty years back. The array of erectile dysfunction drugs invented one after another perfectly exemplifies this point as it is clearly apparent that each subsequently discovered drug has been designed and manufactured in such a way that it perfectly compensates for the deficiencies of the medicines discovered earlier. Take, for instance, the first FDA approved pill Viagra and the latest to gain recognition, Levitra. Viagra was the first oral drug to hit the erectile dysfunction market with tremendous publicity triggering off in its wake. Although there cannot be even an iota of doubt regarding Viagra power against erectile dysfunction but later on this mighty drug was found to be vulnerable on account of its occasional side-effects. After Viagra and Cialis another erectile dysfunction drug arrived in the medicinal market under the brand name Levitra with the sole motive of protecting male sexual health against impotency. The arrival of Levitra made people to wonder as why the need of another anti-impotency drug was felt when there were already two similar pills in the medicinal world by the names of Viagra and Cialis. But with the passage of time doubts vanished from minds and notions were changed as Levitra provided certain supplementary advantages which could not be sufficiently gained from other erectile dysfunction drugs. Like Viagra and other anti-impotency medicines it is also not completely devoid of side-effects but it works with the same speed and agility on a full stomach as well as with a moderate amount of alcohol which is not the case with Viagra. These facts point towards the exclusively beneficial effects of Levitra that cannot be gained through the utilization of Viagra for erectile dysfunction. To further elaborate on the clinical efficiency of the erectile dysfunction drugs discovered later on, both Cialis and Levitra work on the system for a comparatively longer period than Viagra, with Cialis proving effective for a full 36 hours and Levitra for 5 hours. The fact that Viagra works only for 4 hours in the system only acts to strengthen the argument initiated at the beginning that with every new research human beings have become more and more powerful to wage war against the existential threat known as male impotency. But if an analytical experimentation is done on the overall efficiency of all erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra emerges as the only choice. Levitra is on the way to challenge the Pfizer manufactured drug and would soon be able to achieve the cult status. Regardless of the war of words catching on in the anti-impotency drug market people are now able to breathe and sleep with added comfort by using Levitra, the latest FDA approved medicine for erectile dysfunction. Doesnt it sound convincing to your ears? If not then do a bit of research on the facts propounded in this article and raise fingers if they are found to be devoid of truth. To get rid of erectile dysfunction, go for the right picking and care your own health and hygiene. The author frequently writes articles related to men’s issues, specially erectile dysfunction.
