Age Is Not A Number It Is A State Of Mind

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

By Efua Taylor Age is not a number it is a state of Mind How people perceive age was brought home to me when, on a family holiday, my nieces asked their father, my younger brother, to help them with the suitcases. To my astonishment he said Im nearly 70 you know. This coming from someone who plays tennis regularly, rides a bike and still helps neighbours with their decorating! My reply, before I thought of what I was saying, was You may be but I am not And in truth I am only 68. My glass is half full not half empty. I have been looking up search engines to find where to put my web-site www.effortlessaging.com and found it very difficult to locate a category it could go into. It is not really about health, although it is about wellness, it is not about aging although it is about the later years, Third Age, life after a job. It is about an alternative lifestyle if you consider that the lifestyle that most people live is the express train to the afterlife. Nevertheless it is not about pills, supplements and various treatments which may or may not work. It is really not alternative medicine but it is alternative thinking It is about people however a lot under this category deals with Weddings, dating etc. etc. etc. Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I have placed it in several categories in the hope that someone will see it. This week-end, in the Week-end paper, The Guardian ( 28.Oct.06) the theme is The Oldie Issue and I take the liberty to quote several well known older people . Im fit, Im lucky, I do as I please but..Ruth Rendell, author, 76 Id rather die on my feet making a speech than die of Alzheimers - and thats what I am planning to do.Tony Benn, politician, 81 Mindful that its running out, I am determined to have the time of my lifeSheila Hancock, actor, 73 There is a Chinese proverb that says it all Painting is an old mans artDavid Hockney, artist, 69 Feels like it did 50 years ago, but the pays a lot betterMichael Parkinson, TV presenter, 71 Drumming is about time and Im still having a good timeCharlie Watts, Rolling Stones drummer, 65 Im not tired of London yet and Ive not seen NaplesDame Maggie Smith, actor 71 I feel my age as an average between 39 and 99Tim Stoppard, playwright, 69 Ruth Rendell says that things that annoy her are people who say At your Ageand Are you still? Admittedly of us say to ourselves Im getting old when we forget things. When I forgot things, when I was young, my age didnt come into it. Maybe I had a lot on my mind, perhaps I was being absent minded, scatter brained, but I couldnt have said that my age made me forget. Since I retired in June 2006, I have been wondering - How on earth did I find time to go out to work? Im still involved in voluntary and community work, I attend meetings and seminars on all sorts of subjects like health, healthy eating, wealth creation, e-commerce, property, joint ventures, the benefits of raw food, how to prepare gourmet raw food, the stock market. I am learning things that I wish was taught in schools. I have been trying to tell my children about all the wonderful things I have learnt but all I get from them is wry smiles here she goes again!. One of my sons thinks I am up there with the aliens. He may be right. Yes, I do believe there is a Universal Spirit; that we are all connected, that we are at one with the earth and should therefore take care of it. that people come into our lives to teach us a lesson. I believe that we can manifest our desires but are blocked by the negative blue prints from our childhood that our embedded into our minds; that life is what you make it and as you think, so shall you be. I believe in reincarnation and that we will continue to return to this earth until we have learnt our lessons and have attained enlightenment (Buddhahood). I believe that I am my brothers keeper; what goes around comes around.—– Perhaps I am an alien! But I digress. The purpose of this article is to show that AGE IS IN THE MIND I have worked with older people for many years and have seen the difference in the quality of life of those who plan for tomorrow, socialise, laugh and enjoy life from those who have decided that they are old, off the road, just waiting in the queue. For those who are younger than me in years but older than me in mentality I sayI will gladly give up my place in the queue to you. I have still got a lot of things to do! We must not allow society to put us in compartments. We are very much individuals. Todays 70 is yesterdays 40s. Old age is the new adolescence. In my brief travels in the United States and the Caribbean I noted that most of the adverts on television during the day were for medicines of some kind; pain killers, Vitamins, analgesic creams, cold remedies, inhalers, Prozac, the list goes on and on. Think how rich the pharmaceutical industry is. Dare I say it. If we all looked after our health, from an early age, the industry would be out of business. Ask yourself, therefore, Is it in their interest to cure us? By the way, I find water very good for curing headaches. To conclude I would suggest that LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT - So Make It! How To Flirt For Teens - How I Overcame My Shyness

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

By Victor C. When I was young, between 14 and 17, I started to look at girls either the ones at school or neighborhood with different eyes, you know what I mean. I used to look at all those girls as good friends. Sometimes they invited me to go with them somewhere and sometimes we were alone in some places were we could have kiss or touch or you know. However, I was so shy or innocent that I never thought of doing something like that. When I was around 15 I was a little tired to be like that and started to think about flirting or kissing every girl I could but my shyness was stronger than my desire to be with a girl. I didnt know what to do. I started to look for older friends for advice. I asked them what I could talk to girls about because I had no idea. The common answer was: Just talk about anything As you can imagine that didnt help me a lot because I thought how can I talk to a girl about soccer or basket ball if I dont know if they like it? Yes, I could ask first if they like it first but how could I bring that to conversation? Even worse, how could I start a conversation? I was so desperate that I even get to point where I used to write down conversations and practice Q&As so that I could be ready when she asked or answer something. I thought that I would never be able to talk to a girl unless she was the one who direct the conversation. But something happened. Im not sure if what happened was the solution for my problem but Im 98% sure that it was, at least for me. What was that event that changed the way I acted around girls? They were two things actually but the first one was: The discovering of masturbation! Dont laugh, its true! You see, when I started do it I liked it so much that I used to do it several times a day, I even remember when in one day I was doing it every 5 10 minutes. Well, after a few weeks of my discovering I noticed that my conversations with friends were a little bit more mature every time. I started to talk about things that I used to be ashamed of, like our private parts and sex of course. In short, I think my discovery made me feel more mature around girls which helped me feel more comfortable around them and eventually I got more courage to start little conversations and with the time I was able to start direct and even end some conversations with many girls. The other thing that I thing I think helped me a lot was an incident that occurred around the same age. One day my father asked me to do something. I went to the place I was supposed to go and I did what I was supposed to do but when I came back I gave him the wrong information. Its a long story but the fact is that I lied to my father because I wanted him to get mad at somebody that I didnt like. Well, he discovered that I lied to him and he told me that he would never trust me again. That hurts so much that I thought there will never be anything worse than that. So, when I was scared about talking to a girl, I just thought: what can happen that could be worse than losing your fathers trust? That thought gave me the courage I needed to approach any girl without fear. I dont recommend my first discovery because I think that it only applies to my particular situation where I used to be very introverted. My best advice is to follow my second discovery and when you are scared when you want to approach that beautiful girl, think about something really bad that happened to you and compare it to the rejection from a girl. Now, if you havent experienced bad situations just think whats the worse that can happen? Is she going to hit you? Is she going to sue you? Are you going to die? I dont think so. So why dont you just go and try you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain. ====================================================== Victor C. is an Engineer in Computer Systems who loves to read and write about any subject, as long as it’s interesting and useful for the reader. Can You Be Motivated To Lose Weight?

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

By Isabelle Epstein “To succeed you need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you.” - Tony Dorsett There is no better motivation than self motivation. Motivation coming from outside sources such as a book, a movie, a program or another person, is just encouragement to follow a certain way. In the best case it will inspire you to start doing something different. Nobody knows better than you what you want and why you want it.There can be no better motivation than your own desires. It should be something that drives you forward in such a way that you become unstoppable. Motivation from outside sources can only help you if you adopt it as your own. Nobody likes to be told what to do, even though we know that what is suggested makes perfect sense. It is not a matter of right and wrong. It is a matter of what feels good for you. It has to be a perfect fit. It has to be yours. You are the one to have the idea, you are the one to take the decision for your own personal reasons. One day I decided that’s it. I am not compromising any more, no more excuses, no more extra weight. The first priority was to shred the extra weight. It wasn’t something to be taken care of at a later time, it had to be now. I made a choice to start losing weight right now. I knew I would have to make a few chances in my nutrition and my daily schedule. I had to make plans for the future me. I tackle my weight management as a project with goals and milestones. But most important I stay motivated all day long. I have reminder everywhere and especially in the kitchen. It is so easy to forget. But I do not want to forget because I want to wear this cute pair of trousers that is just waiting for me: a size 10. My husband writes me “love letters” on the biscuit box and leaves special messages every where in the kitchen. It is all a matter of choice. I focus on my weight management and on my health. I indulge myself from time to time but in very small portions and I enjoy every bite. I enjoy it even more than before, because it is done on purpose and not as a habit. I do not feel any guilt at all. I am constantly aware of my goal. I have reminders everywhere: on my computer, my schedule, even my mobile reminds me when needed. I use all the tools at my disposition to stay motivated. I write on Post-it and leave them on my desk, in my bathroom, on the fridge and everywhere in the kitchen. I plan my meals; I schedule my workout and accept all the support I can get. I try to stay away from negativity. Using the Best Skin Peel at Home

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

By David Maillie In the past, the best skin peel was only available from a dermatologist or salon. This is no longer true. You can now have the benefits of a medical grade facial peel in the comfort of your own home. The most effective peels on the market contain Tricholoracetic Acid (TCA). TCA is a non toxic chemical that has been used for over 30 years and is considered completely safe. It is one of the deeper peels, used to rejuvenate the skin and improve the condition of the skin. TCA peels successfully treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne, wrinkles, blotchy skin, blackheads, discoloration from sun exposure, age spots, acne scarring, excessive oil and dull complexion. The pores of your skin are unblocked, revealing clearer skin. Your complexion will be smoother with improved texture. Fine lines and wrinkles are softened after treatment. The skin is tightened for a younger appearance. Estheticians Choice is the best skin peel and is now available for home use. Before Treatment: Talk to your doctor if you are taking prescription medications. Accutane is one medication that should not be used after a peel. Talk to your doctor and stop taking the medication before having a peel. You should avoid using other exfoliation products in the week before you use a home TCA peel. Also, avoid tanning either outside or in a tanning bed. Directions for a Home Peel: Estheticians Choice can be used in two strengths. Use the product full strength for a deeper peel to improve bad acne, wrinkling or skin discoloration. The product can be diluted for a gentler, surface peeling. Follow the included directions for diluting the product. The peel can be used once a month for very damaged skin. Its important to wait at least four weeks between treatments to allow the skin time to heal completely. Apply the product with a cotton swab. The peel should be left on the skin for about two to four minutes. Rinse well with slightly cool water to remove the product. Dont rub or use a washcloth. Most people will feel a slight tingling sensation when it is applied. You should feel little or no discomfort after it is rinsed away. If you do experience slight irritation, apply icy water or ice to soothe the skin. Immediately after treatment, you will notice a slight red color to the skin, like mild sunburn. This fades in a day or so and the skin continues to peel for the next few days. Once peeled, clearer, firmer skin is revealed. Taking good care of your skin after the peel will result in better, faster healing. After the Peel: o Gently wash the skin with a very mild cleanser in the days after. Use only your hands and not a washcloth or a scrubber, which can cause irritation. o Keep the skin moist with an oil free moisturizing project. o Dont use any other exfoliation products for at least a week after the peel. o Avoid sun exposure and tanning. This can cause discoloration. If you go outside, wear a good sunblock with an SPF of at least 30. o Dont use make up for at least a week. After this time, use high quality, natural make up that wont clog the skin. Look for oil free products to avoid clogging the pores again. Natural products or mineral make up is best. o Avoid harsh prescription ointments and medications such as Accutane. These can cause scarring and discoloration. o Taking good care of yourself speeds the healing process. You will look better and feel better. o Drink plenty of water to flush the skin and replenish the moisture in your body. o Get enough sleep. At least eight hours each night. This is important for healing and is good for the complexion. o Eat healthy foods and take vitamins. Good nutrition is important for your skin and your overall health. o Practice good skin care to keep your complexion clear and soft. Use natural products that are made for your skin type. o Prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on Scripture helps reduce stress, which aids in healing. Prayer has been proven in studies to increase healing in all areas of the body. Estheticians Choice is the best skin peel for home use. The results are guaranteed and can be seen right away. Some products take a month or more to show results, but with this product you will see improvement after just one use. You can repeat the procedure every four weeks, if needed. Nine Steps To A Successful Home Equity Loan

Monday, November 12th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=James_Ellison]James Ellison Here is nine methods to ensure you have taken measures to shield your home and your equity: 1. Browse around. Costs can deviate greatly! Get hold of some lenders like banks, savings and loans, credit unions, and mortgage companies. Inquire with each lender about the best loan for which you meet requirements. 2. Examine the annual percentage rate (APR). This APR is the most significant thing to compare when browsing for a loan. this takes into consideration not only the interest rate, but also points (one point equals one percent of the loan amount), mortgage broker fees, and certain other credit charges the lender needs the borrower to pay, stated as a yearly rate. Mostly, the lower the APR, the lower the cost of your loan. Ask will the APR change? 3. Ask about points and other fees that you’ll be responsible for. The charges may not be refundable if you refinance or pay off the loan ahead of time. Also if you refinance, you may pay additional points. Points are normally paid in cash at closing, but may be put into the loan. If you finance the points, you will pay extra interest and step-up the total cost of your loan. 4. The length of the loan. How long will you make payments on the loan? If you are acquiring a home equity loan that merges credit card debt and other short term loans, do not forget that the new loan may hold you for a longer period. 5. Monthly payment. What is the total cost? Will it remain the same or change? 6. Will there be a balloon payment? A balloon payment is a big payment normally at the end of the loan, frequently after a series of low monthly payments. While the balloon payment is owed, you must come up with the money. If you can’t, you may require another loan, which signifies new closing costs, points and fees. 7. Will there be a prepayment penalty? The penalty are added fees that may be owed if you pay off the loan ahead of time by refinancing or selling your home. Prepayment penalties may pressure you to hold on to a high-rate loan by making it too expensive to get out of the loan . Attempt to manage this penalty out of your loan agreement. 8. What happens to the interest rate on the loan increase if you fail to pay? A modified interest rate provision states that if you overlook a payment or pay late, you may need to pay a higher interest rate for the remainder of the loan. Try to talk terms where this provision is out of your loan arrangement. 9. Did the loan have a charge for any type of voluntary credit insurance, such as disability, unemployment insurance or credit life, ? Will the insurance premiums be included as part of the loan? And if so, will you pay extra interest and points and increase the entire cost of the loan. Without the credit insurance how much lower would your monthly payment be ? Does the insurance cover the duration of your loan and the full loan amount? When determining to buy voluntary credit insurance from a lender, consider about whether you actually need the insurance and correspond with other insurance suppliers about their rates. Guaranteed Loan Programs; How To Find A Payday Loan

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kum_Martin]Kum Martin There are many instances when people encounter expenses that they have not anticipated, and cannot be provided for in their financial budget. For instance, if you received an unexpected bill from a service company or if you suddenly find yourself entertaining a visiting friend or family member who came all the way from a far place to give you a surprised visit, you would probably find yourself running out of money long before the next payday. More often than not, unexpected expenses will cause havoc in your budget and you find yourself in a tight financial situation. If you suddenly find yourself in a tight financial situation, you might want to get a payday loan. What is a payday loan? A payday loan is a loan offered by banks and financial institutions on employees. A payday loan is classified under secured loans since this loan is guaranteed by the employees monthly salary. Almost all employees can qualify for a payday loan, regardless of their credit history. Employees who have bad credit records or those who do not have any credit record at all are usually able to avail of this type of loan. The good thing about this guaranteed loan is that most banks and lending institutions no longer conduct credit checks on these loans, since they are already looking at your salary as a security for the payday loan. Most banks and lending institutions will grant instant payday loans, as long as you have a job and have monthly income of more than $1000. However, other banks and financial institutions will require that you have a valid checking account as pre-requisite to granting your payday loan. Investigate Your Cheating Spouse - Benefits of Using a Casebook

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

By Charles Williamson A cheating spouse thinks and lives on a completely different wavelength than the Victim. In most cases, to the cheater a “little” affair is thrilling, it’s deserved and it’s not a big deal. Of course the cheater would never consult you to confirm that. “It didn’t mean anything,” says the cheater many times as if you, the victim, should accept this qualifier as some sort of consolation. If you suspect your spouse is cheating, time is critical. You need evidence and you need it fast! Scenario 1: John Smith begins having an affair with the boss of his wife, Sally Smith. The Boss takes out and pays for a new insurance policy on Sally’s life, because Sally is a key person. Sally or John signs the paperwork for his wife making the Boss beneficiary. The affair goes on for a year to no one’s notice. Then into the second year Sally learns of the affair and the Cheater and the Boss slowly drive Sally to suicide. The 2 year elimination period for suicide on the policy has expired and the policy pays the Boss $1.0 M. It happens. At $65-95/hr, hiring a private investigator can be expensive! However, fact is, many times the Victim knows in their gut that an affair is happening to them. And with some assistance, they can be very effective in gathering clues and confirming the affair of their own volition. They know their spouse is seeing someone; they just can’t prove it. They don’t know what to do. They don’t have the investgative know-how or skills or tools or confidence. And more importantly, they don’t know what NOT to do to preserve the prospect of building a case of infidelity. And even if the Victim does stumble onto some how-to PI tricks to gather some evidence, they often blow their chances to use it due to expoliation of evidence, interrupted Chain of Custody or some other legal technicality. So, what can a manual like SnoopFile’s Cheating Spouse Casebook do for a Victim of infidelity? Coaching. A victim spouse needs some sort of step by step assistance through the logical steps of “conducting their own” Investigation. The following are a few essential steps utilized by a trained private investigator: 1. Clarify the GOAL. Ninety percent of a Victim’s heartache can be alleviated with a clear focus and adherance to an objective. If based on probable cause and probable outcomes, you opt for a frontal approach - a forthright talk with your spouse - then clarify the possible outcomes. Write them down. Realistically define a “successful talk”. If you opt to investigate, then clarify your steps using a Investigator’s Casebook, for the self-destructive nature of feelings will otherwise undermind your investigative efforts. 2. Quickly confirm - Is he cheating? An investigation is a systematic inquiry into the facts of an event or a person. A casebook can help you systematically get answers to your questions quickly, so you can begin plotting your course to resolution. You may have already accused your spouse. And he has discounted and brushed aside the charges leaving you hurt and still uncertain. SnoopFile’s Casebook equips you with a guide through a step-by-step process of gathering clues and building a timeline. At the conclusion of this process, you will quickly confirm facts and have your PROBABLE CAUSE and reason to investigate further. 3. Confirmed. Now what? Once you have a collection of clues, then you have probable cause. Now, it’s time to decide what course your will take. A naval ship-driver calls this a “biforcation”. And a biforcation bouy gives you some idea of which track a pilot officer should take. You will not have any bouys except for your heart. You may need a coach to help guide you through a protocol of questions about your husband, yourself and your personal or economic situation. Having answered these questions, you will KNOW the logical or reasonable thing to do. And you will choose your track. 4. The Steps of Building a Case. Investigation is a very simple process, but it requires tools, a little discipline, and a few tricks. A manual like SnoopFile’s will COACH you through the uncertainties based on investigative algorithms, experience tools and knowledge of human nature. Sometimes in such an ordeal, we simply need EMPOWERMENT with tools for gathering evidence, PI tricks of the trade to outsmart and stay ahead of a possible Cheater. 5. The Law and Privacy Rules. Every investigation should be carried out in a manner, such that its findings and evidence are acceptable in a court of law. And that case evidence will be direct and subtantive (prima facia = able to stand on its own) evidence, rather than indirect or circumstantial. Don’t worry. There are only a few simple concepts you must understand as you investigate. There are a few Privacy Rules and Rules of Law pertaining to investigation which we will show you to help ensure your investigation is legal and your evidence is acceptable in a court of law - in case it ends up there. An investigations manual such as Snoopfile’s Casebook would equip a Victim with “navigational” aids through these general concepts of the Law! 6. Rules of Evidence. First, you may be right about your suspicions, but there’s not much a judge can do about your testimony without corroborating evidence. The fact that you saw them kiss with your own eyes will be predjudiced by your relationship to the Cheater. Likewise, there’s nothing worse than obtaining that juicy piece evidence - a video clip, an incriminating email or a receipt - only to find out that you violated the Cheater’s right to privacy. Violate Privacy Rights and I promise you any half-motivated attorney will have the evidence declared inadmissable. Or worse, you failed to control and properly handle the piece of evidence and so document it’s Chain of Custody. 7. Where to Look for Evidence. A good Casebook like Snoopfile’s discusses the WHAT and WHERE of evidence collecting in great detail. Now, as you uncover and examine some of these clues, it’s important to be able to detach yourself from the relationship. This takes practice and a little redirection from time to time. CAUTION! People are arrogant creatures, myself included. We ask for advice only to discount it. We ask for help, only to skip over steps which we don’t believe are important. Don’t do this. Don’t be arrogant. Steps in an investigation may seem simplistic or elementary, (Dear Watson). But this is where investigators go badly wrong. Step back! Being a good investigator is being disciplined - methodical. If you don’t want to be that - then you get to pay $65/hour, $2,500 per week to hire a private investigator. Got your attention? So, let’s put on the Private Investigator hat. To whet your appetite, here’s a short list: INDICATORS - dieting out of the blue; obvious weight loss - poorly conditioned, yet now “pumping iron” all of a sudden - mood changes accompanied by irritability - happy to be alone or happy away from you - large unexplained vehicle odometer reading changes - (for more, refer to a good Cheating Spouse Casebook). The Sacred Pathways To Your Soul

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

By Angela MacDonald Life is much more about the journey and not as much about the destination. It is the people we meet, the experiences we share with each individual and the lessons that support our personal growth all along our life path. It is important to awaken to the pathways that are presented to us along the way and dis-covering the sacredness in each one. The beauty and awe of each step we take to get us closer in touch with our own unique sense of being. Each person we encounter is in some way is a mirror to our self. Whether that be a reflection of who we are and how we are in the current time or if it is a mirror of our past and what we have overcome or transformed or if it is a mirror of the possibilities that are awaiting us in the near future. Either way every encounter we have with a person and experience is one more piece of and awakening to the sacred path we are on. This is why it is essential to find gratitude in everything that we go through, including the successes and the mistakes, the good and the not so good. With that understanding your sacred pathways to your soul can enlighten the journey in itself. One way to do this is to examine the energy points of your bodyyour chakras. Chakras have a real power and significance to them and they influence our healthbody, mind, spirit. They are the sacred pathways into your soul. There are seven of these psychic relay points in the body that extend outward into your energy fields that surround your body. That which is beyond the minds eye. That which can only be sensed and not seen. Each one is designed to send out and pick up messages through the psyche. As you become familiar with these seven energy points you will awaken to a new level of consciousness about the purpose of things happening in your life. The basis of the chakras is 7 points of energy each known as the base chakra, sensual/sexual chakra, solar plexus, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye and crown chakra. Each one holds a different purpose and energy within the body and in turn influence one another as they are intricately connected. Chakas are your seven sacred pathways into your soul. They work as communication satellites and control your degree of conscious awareness. They govern your survival and will, your love and your spiritual awareness. They are what influence your experiences of enlightenment. There is so much to learn and understand and embrace about these points of power along your sacred paths. And many ways to do so. This can include working with sound, movement and meditation. Your sacred pathways operate on energy. Imagine walking bare foot in the woods and feeling the energy in the ground, the energy in the trees around you and in the sounds of nature. Sound itself has a form of powerful energy. Therefore when you work with music and sound you feel it vibrate within your soul. Have You Neglected This Righteous Cause Of God?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

By David Hopkins As believers, we have a responsibility to care forthose who have been left without a bread winner, whichbegins with the responsibility of caring for our ownfamily and relatives who may be in distress. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, andspecially for those of his own house, he hath deniedthe faith, and is worse than an infidel. An infidel is a person who does not even acknowledgeGod. So what does that say about someone who doesn’ttake care of his own family in need? Helping the poor and needy is the only Christ likeresponse there is in dealing with widows and orphansand people that are tragically left without a breadwinner. James 1:27 “Pure and undefiled religion before God andthe father is this; to visit orphans and widows intheir trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from theworld”. God is deeply concerned that the poor and needyreceive justice and deliverance. This should be highon the agenda for anyone seeking to honor God andreceive His divine blessings. Psalms 41:1 “Blessed is he who considers the poor, TheLord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lordwill preserve him and keep him alive, and he will beblessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to thewill of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him onhis bed of illness; You will sustain him on hissickbed”. The above scripture is one of more than twenty fivetimes in which psalms mention “the poor” , usuallyeither in terms of what the wicked are doing to themor what God is doing for them. So to be on the side of God is to take up the cause ofthe poor and oppressed. Helping the poor has to do with one’s responsibilitiestoward upholding the weak and disadvantageed. Wherever scripture raises this issue, it challenges usto share at least some of our material wealth withpeople in desperate need. Exodus 22:25-27 “If you lend money to any of My peoplewho are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest”. Whatever charity we show to the poor will be repaid, not necessarily by the poor, but by the Lord becausethe Lord assumes the debt. God is aware of what we do and because of that wenever really “waste” our charity, even if the personwho receives it turns out to be deceptive, God stillmakes it right. The poor person will have to answerfor how he uses the resources God brings into hislife. Likewise, we must answer for how we have used theresources God brings our way, and in most cases Godwants us to use at least part of those resources toassist the poor. Those that honor God show mercy to the weak anddisadvantaged, Yet In contrast those that depart fromGodly ways abuse and manipulate the poor. So part of our responsibility as Christians involvesseeing that the poor benefit from truth and justice,by demonstrating that commitment at our jobs andcommunities. Proverbs 11:24-25 “There is one who scatters, yetincreases more; and there is one who withholds morethan is right, but it leads to poverty. The generoussoul will be made rich, and he who waters will also bewatered himself”. God also condemns favoritism toward the rich anddiscrimination towards the poor. This includestreating rich people better than poor people based ontheir socioeconomic status. Exodus 22:22-24 You shall not afflict any widow orfatherless child. If you afflict them in any way, andthey cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry; andMy wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with thesword; your wives shall be widows, and your childrenfatherless. So in conclusion to take up this righteous cause ofGod you must provide for the needs of your family. (1Tim. 5:8). Visit orphans and widows in their trouble.(Jam. 1:27). Don’t be like a money lender to the poor(Ex. 22:25-27), and not afflict any widow orfatherless child. (Ex. 22:22-24). Loan Calculators

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jimmy_Sturo]Jimmy Sturo It’s nearly impossible to go through life today without taking out some kind of loan. From buying a home to buying a car, from paying for a college education to buying consumer durables, everyone needs loans to finance their purchases. With each loan taken out, repayment installments become an increasingly important part of the process. The problem one often faces is how to calculate the numbers related to one’s loans. Whether it’s a smaller repayment installments with a longer duration or larger installments with a smaller duration, the calculations send most people into a confused state. A financial planner or expert can take advantage of a loan calculator. They address the numbers problem by helping to quickly figure out the various permutations and combinations that are possible for loan repayment and calculate the equated monthly installments. Loan calculators differ based on the type of loan being considered. For example, students requiring financial aid have specific loan calculators designed for them. These custom calculators help them ascertain school costs, how much one needs to save and how much aid one needs. These calculators compute an estimate of the size of the monthly loan payments and the annual salary required to manage the repayments without too much financial difficulty and with a short tenure. Similarly there are other calculators that help with mortgage and auto loan calculations. Mortgage calculators providing an estimate of the price of the home one may be able to afford and the mortgage amount that one qualifies for. Others calculate one’s monthly mortgage payments quickly and easily by entering the loan amount, interest rate and length of the loan. These calculators are essentially easy to operate and user friendly too. All that is required is to fill in the numbers and the rest of the job is done by the calculators. A variety of specialized online loan calculators are available today. However, it is important to use online calculators that are provided by a reputed site or company to minimize the chance of errors.
